About the Backyard Bar Hillcrest
The atmosphere of the Backyard Bar is another reason I keep coming back anytime I’m in the area thanks to it often having superb live music to compliment the laid-back vibe. I especially love Tequila Fridays which features great bands in addition to stellar deals on tequila and cocktails that involve it (I do love my mixed drinks!) I also am a big fan of the Quiz/Trivia nights, which are great fun whether you’re playing solo or have a group of friends to try and answer questions with.
I may not be that great at trivia, but it is still plenty of fun to play. Oh, and while I’m not much of a sports-guy, I have noted that they often have all kinds of games on the television, like Cricket, Rugby, Soccer and NRL which I know is hugely popular in the region. I know very little about sports, but I imagine fans of athletic-events will be glad to know there are plenty of televisions and good-sized crowds anytime a big-deal event is happening.
Food and Drinks of Note
As a pizza lover i was spoiled for choice here and I also love the Chicken Wings which you can get as a bar snack. If you need a full meal however, the Backyard Bar has plenty of options there too, with the pork ribs, lamb shanks, burgers (best in Hillcrest) tender Kiwi steaks and fish n’ chips being very popular eats among many options.
I realize now I’ve only talked about the food, and the Backyard Bar has more than just delicious dishes, it also has a wide-range of drinks. All your favourite beers on tap or by the bottle are available here. As a lover of Coca-Cola I appreciate they serve Coke products ice cold, and as a fan of clever alcoholic drinks I love such options as the Avion Espresso Martini (tequila, Absolut vanilla vodka and coffee has never tasted so good) as well as the Firebreather which is Cinnamon Jack Daniels mixed with Amaretto and Lemon Juice, and sure to put some hairs on your chest.
For you wine drinkers, there are plenty of options too, from Chardonnay to Rose, but as I’m not much of a wine-lover I can’t comment as much on those except to say the wide selection was impressive and well priced.

The Backyard Bar has a spectacular mixture of tasty food, awesome drinks, and a very relaxing, “Feel,” that is perfect if you’re looking for a welcoming place to relax by yourself, with friends, or to have an event or party. The quiz night is a personal favorite event of mine, and sports-lovers will be pleased as well when they visit.
